Statement

Sentiment is a series of collages from an ongoing body of work by Elaine Catherine Miller that act as personal reflections while she is influenced by popular culture, media, and consumerism. Using both analog and digital collage techniques combined with photography, Miller seamlessly interweaves found objects, magazine cutouts, and handwritten letters to interrelate motifs of life and death with franchise logos, beloved characters from childhood, and contemporary consumer products. Through layering and distortion, her images reflect a psychedelic emotional landscape that responds to being an American woman who has grown up on the Internet.
